Sometimes women fall.
The important thing to ask is, what do we do at the moment of impact? Most of us brush off our knees, kick off the dirt and get right back up. However, sometimes we fall hard and look for a helping hand. Fresh Start Women’s Foundation has been doing just that since 1992. The non-profit foundation was formed to help women help themselves and they do that with inspiration, support and exciting programs.
Programs support women from any situation life may challenge us with, including divorce, unemployment, loss of a loved one, abuse, financial struggles, business start-up, health issues and mentoring programs. The state of the economy, unemployment rates and the labor market is having a major impact on women. This Labor Day I invite you to look at a way to support these effort with a helping hand.
The Jewell McFarland Lewis – Fresh Start Women’s Resource center is located in Phoenix and welcomes women to participate in most services free of charge. The center holds personal development classes, empowerment support groups, mentoring, career and staffing solutions, child care, family law support in a bilingual atmosphere that really does encompass all women.
I had the opportunity to visit the center awhile back and witness the preparation of a career support event. The women at the center lined up racks of gently worn clothing, donated to the center. The workshop – dressing for the interview. I had never experienced a program that fully encompassed the real economic challenges women face. Whether they are there because of a lay-off or divorce. Women from all walks are granted hands-on computer experience.
Fresh Start Women’s Foundation is non-profit and utilizes an exceptional collaboration of staff, volunteers and donors.
